Lorne Wagman is a Canadian landscape artist who lives and works in the countryside about 100 miles north of Toronto, where he grew up. He started painting seriously in 1971 and has exhibited regularly since the mid 70s, in the major Toronto galleries and further afield.

Most of Lorne's paintings are of his immediate environment: 'I need to be intimately familiar with whatever I paint. When I paint an unfamiliar view, I feel that I fail to catch its essence. I don't want to give the subject short shrift. I prefer to make molehills into mountains, rather than vice versa.'
