Kalevi Liski was born in 1937 in a small village called Vuoksela in Carelia, Finland. He worked over 30 years as a stage designer at the Finnish Broadcasting Company (YLE) and in various theatre and opera productions. Nevertheless, painting have always been the most important way to express myself.
In his paintings he expresses his inner feelings on canvas or paper with light and colour. I am very interested in trying to manifest the tension between these two elements. From there on it is up to the viewer to decide what happens.
